Craig Drobis is the Director of Marketing for boys action figures and collectors for Jakks Pacific. Craig will be answering your questions for all Ask Jakks submissions. ToyHypeUSA will be sending him monthly questions and we will have your answers back on or around the beginning of each month. Send us your questions to [email protected] by June 30th.

Editor’s Note: These are the answers meant for July 1st. The June 1st questions sent appears to have had a mishap. We will be resubmitting those for August 1st (assuming we can find them). Apologies to JAKKS and our readers.

1. I understand that Jakks Pacific is finally releasing a DC Comics Big Figs figure of “comic book” (Bronze Age) style Wonder Woman. That’s great news. When will this figure be revealed and is it another Amazon exclusive Big Fig or will it be available at retail around the world? I hope that the upcoming release of Wonder Woman means that we’ll soon see Batgirl and Supergirl added to the DC Comics Big Figs collection.

The release date has not been confirmed yet for the comic Wonder Woman. I am hoping for sooner rather than later, but it is likely the end of the year at the earliest.

2. For World of Nintendo, are there any plans for 4″ Figures of the Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie from Splatoon?

At this point, we only have plans for Inkling boy and girl in 4″ scale and the squids in the 2.5″ scale. We are also excited about the upcoming launch of Splatoon 2 and we will monitor sales of the current figures and see where there is interest in adding more characters. These are good options of course. We do also have our Splatoon blasters coming out in August which are a fun way to bring the Splatoon play outdoors.

3. What are the plans for San Diego this year as far as exclusives, will JAKKS be offering an exclusive at their booth along with two at Entertainment Earth?
This year, we do have one Star Wars big fig which will be available in the Lucas pavilion at the show and has not been announced yet. There is one Nintendo item being sold by Entertainment Earth. The Nintendo Super Mario and Princess Peach 2 pack has been unveiled by EE and is on their site if you want to take a look at it.

We will be returning to San Diego with a panel on Thursday of Comic Con with more details to come. The summary of the panel is:

Join JAKKS Pacific for a preview of all the new figures, collectibles, and RC vehicles we will be releasing in the coming months. Attendees will get an exclusive first look at exciting new items for Nintendo, DC Originals, Justice League, Marvel, and Star Wars. Following the preview will be a Q&A with members of JAKKS’ development team and special giveaways of our premium DC Originals Tribute Series figures.

4. Are there any chances of getting the Martian Manhunter, Batgirl, Atom, Giganta, Lex Luthor, Supergirl, and more DC characters beyond just the core characters in the Big Figs line?

At this point, we are focusing on the core characters within the DC Universe.

5. Besides Wonder Woman, are there any additional characters from the new film planned for the big figs line, such as Queen Hippolyta?
At this point, we are moving on to the Justice League figures for this fall. The first few were unveiled today by DC Comics. We will have more to reveal in San Diego.

Thanks for asking these questions. I’m disappointed to read that Jakks Pacific is sticking to the “core” members of the Justice League for future DC Comics Big Figs. After their release of Harley Quinn, I was really hoping that they would at least release Supergirl and Batgirl.
The decision not to release Supergirl is particularly perplexing, given the high profile and popularity of the live action TV show.

Thanks for reading! It’s just the way it looks today with Supergirl, and changes happen all the time in this industry. So maybe someday we’ll see Supergirl and Batgirl?
